DESCRIPTION:

Harrison Goldman Studio was appointed by 3R Restoration (specialist sub-contractor) to work in a new built natural stone entrance in an office building. The building is located in the heart of Mayfair, one of the most exclusive areas of central London.

This project was a redevelopment of a well-known office building in Berkeley Square. It implied the demolition of the old entrance and the construction of a new one. In this project, the main challenge was to design and build a new sub-structure that needed to fit in the structure of the previous entrance. We needed to adapt our sub-structure to the beams and posts of a pre-existing building.

I had the opportunity of working on the design and detailing of the cladding sub-structure. We were able to provide our client with a bespoke and highly innovative stainless steel frame sub-structure system that restraint the natural stone in the vertical façades.

The design of a sub-structure for the sloping soffit stone was particularly challenging, especially in the angle corners.

The work implied multiple on-site visits and on-site meetings, and working closely with other sub-contractors teams.

In such a competitive environment, as it is the rental office market in central London, this new natural stone entrance is a beautiful and attractive addition to Berkeley Square House. Our client was very satisfied with the result.
