DESCRIPTION:

Harrison Goldman Studio was appointed by Mega Marble (specialist sub-contractor) to work in the garden extension of a private house. The house is located in the heart of Hampstead, one of the most exclusive residential areas of North London.

This project implied the construction of several façades and external steps around the house, with a complex planing programe and coordinating several construction and landscaping subcontractors teams.

In this project, the main challenge was to design, coordinate and built a new sub-structure for a magnificent soffit stone, with an innovative irregular and organic shape.

In the soffit stone area, we were able to provide our client with a bespoke, highly innovative and light-weight stainless steel frame sub-structure system that allows both restraining and taking the load of the 50 mm thick natural stone.

The work implied multiple on-site visits and on-site meetings, and working closely with sub-contractors teams.

Working in a domestic environment, we had to develop accurate and complex construction details to get a satisfactory result for all the parties.

In 2025, the back garden of the house is still under construction. This picture shows the installation of the sloping stone soffit in the back garden:
